Case Study - Dave

When Dave began working with Monty, he was faced with lip service an all too familiar response for him, we were told, in the workplace.. Dave described work as a jolly, fun place to work, but the urgency and importance of tasks was met with low energy.

The task was to ask Monty back up. When Monty did not respond as expected, Dave found himself on familiar territory. Whilst Monty was busying himself sniffing, munching, half listening, Dave was able to explore his own feelings. He recognised that the indifference Monty was showing was similar to the indifference that his workforce display. He told us that they have a tendency to make their own priorities and although social interaction is very important, sometimes it can get in the way of work. We explored a range of suitable responses and Dave came up with Determination - a determination to get the message of priorities across to his workforce.

Dave practiced backing Monty up and bringing him back a number of times and each time he became more determined and his intention become clearer. Determination for Dave meant that he actually grew inches in stature. Dave focused on the task and Monty listened. Monty responded to the change in Dave’s focus and energy. He communicated clearly what he wanted and Monty responded. Each time Monty was brought back he was rewarded with a cuddle and a rest. The deal was struck. Later in the day, we noticed that Monty recognised Dave every time he was asked to work with him. Monty listened, understood and responded.

Dave has undergone a number of different personal development workshops prior to this one and he told us that this one made the difference. He is getting a different response from people both at home and at work now.
